The legendary chef Curtis Stone will make a much-anticipated appearance as a guest judge on tonight’s episode of “MasterChef Australia: Secrets & Surprises“. The top 10 contestants will face a challenging service task focused on showcasing the versatility and creativity of root vegetables.
As the teams prepare their two-course menus, Stone will present them with a selection of four root vegetables to incorporate into their dishes. With his wealth of culinary knowledge and experience, Stone will guide the contestants in utilising the unique flavours and textures of these humble ingredients.
Who Is Curtis Stone?
Born in Australia in 1975, Curtis Stone developed a passion for cooking at an early age. Inspired by his grandmother and influenced by renowned chefs like Marco Pierre White, Stone began his culinary journey at the Savoy Hotel in Melbourne when he was just 18. His dedication and talent eventually led him to London. There, he got to live his dream of working alongside childhood hero White, at esteemed restaurants such as the Grill Room, Café Royal, Mirabelle, and Quo Vadis.
Stone’s career took an exciting turn when he appeared on “Surfing the Menu,” a popular culinary travel show set in Australia. This breakthrough opportunity propelled him into the world of television, where he showcased his culinary skills and charismatic personality. Over the years, Stone has made numerous appearances on various TV shows, including Martha Stewart’s show, “Access Hollywood,” “Rachael Ray,” and both the US and Australian versions of “MasterChef”. He has also hosted and competed in several culinary competitions, earning him a well-deserved reputation as a talented and versatile chef.
In addition, Stone has authored several cookbooks, sharing his culinary expertise and recipes with food enthusiasts worldwide. He has also launched his own line of cookware, Kitchen Solutions, further cementing his influence in the culinary industry.
Curtis Stone Restaurants
Despite his success in television, Stone never strayed far from his true passion for cooking. opened his first solo restaurant, Maude (Beverly Hills, California) in February 2014. This esteemed establishment pays tribute to Stone’s late paternal grandmother, who served as his initial culinary mentor.
Gwen Butcher Shop and Restaurant is his second restaurant. For this venture, Curtis partnered with his brother, Luke Stone. Gwen is both an old-world, European-style butcher shop and an elegant restaurant that is redefining fine dining in LA.
Curtis Stone is preparing to unveil his third restaurant, Woodend, on the Riviera Maya in Mexico. The restaurant’s name pays homage to the Victorian town that holds a special place in Stone’s heart. He’s named the beachside restaurant Woodend, honouring the Macedon Ranges town where he spent his childhood holidays.
