“MasterChef Australia” 2023: Jessica Perri
Meet Jessica Perri, a 35-year-old optometrist from Victoria who is a passionate home cook.
For Jessica, food is more than just a source of nourishment. It’s a means of expressing love, sharing traditions, and exploring new flavours and techniques.
Her passion for cooking began at the age of three, when her two Nonnas taught her to cook “alla buona” — the key is to do it effortlessly, and without following a recipe. Cooking became a creative outlet for Jessica, especially after the passing of her Nonnas, and she sees it as her responsibility to continue their family legacy through food.
Despite juggling the demands of motherhood and a scientific career, Jessica has honed her culinary skills through experimentation and exploration of diverse cuisines. She believes that cooking is not only about following recipes but also about understanding the science behind the ingredients and techniques. Her ultimate goal is to create dishes that are not only delicious but also visually appealing and a feast for all the senses.
Now, Jessica is ready to take her passion for cooking to the next level by competing on “MasterChef Australia”. She hopes to learn from the judges, push her boundaries, and showcase her creativity and culinary expertise.
“MasterChef Australia: Secrets & Surprises” will premiere on 10 and 10 Play.
