Is “MasterChef Australia” 2023 on Tonight?

Since publishing this story, Network Ten has announced the death of MasterChef Australia judge Jock Zonfrillo on April 30, 2023.

The much-awaited premiere of the 15th season of “MasterChef Australia” was set to take place tonight however sadly, Network 10 has confirmed the passing of judge Jock Zonfrillo. The Scottish-Australian chef and restaurateur, 46, passed away in Melbourne on Sunday. He left behind his wife, Lauren Fried, and four children.

In a statement, Network Ten expressed their condolences and sadness.

“Jock was a beloved member of the MasterChef Australia family, and we are deeply shocked and saddened by his sudden passing. We extend our sincere sympathies to Jock’s family and friends during this incredibly difficult time,” the statement read.

“Determined and talented and with plenty of grit, Jock was born in Glasgow to an Italian father and a Scottish mother, which meant his formative years were heavily influenced by two strong cultures and it was his obsession with food and desire for a new pushbike that at just 12 years old fuelled Jock to knock on kitchen doors looking for a job.”

In light of the passing of Jock Zonfrillo, Network Ten has delayed the premiere of “MasterChef Australia: Secrets and Surprises”. It was supposed to premiere tonight, May 1. With the full support of Jock Zonfrillo’s family, “MasterChef Australia” will air at 7.30pm on Sunday, 7 May. A special edition of “The Sunday Project” will pay tribute to Jock from 6.30pm on Sunday, 7 May.
