“MasterChef Australia” 2023: Phil Conway
Spending his early life in Galway, Ireland, Phil Conway found his love for food when he moved to Melbourne. Cooking aside, his passions were previously in the fitness world. But when he was unable to train people in his fitness studio during the pandemic he spent a lot of time experimenting in the kitchen and his focus began to shift.
After a 2022 trip to Italy, Conway immersed himself in the food and wine of the Veneto region. It was here that he learned to make pasta and sauces from scratch. His knowledge goes beyond food and steers into finding the perfect drop of wine, which he learned from his time in Burgundy and Bordeaux, France and Napa and Sonoma, USA.
Most weekends you can find him hosting dinner parties for his nearest and dearest.
His new dream is to open a French and Italian-inspired wine bar to give people a taste of great dishes and delicious wines.
Will all of Phil Conway’s dreams come true? Tune into “MasterChef Australia: Secrets & Surprises” to find out.
