The countdown to SAS Australia is on, and Channel 7 have been slowly giving us previews as to what we can expect from the upcoming season. One of the celebrity contestants this year is Melissa Wu, who has made a name for herself by representing Australia in world sporting events.
The Olympian is ready to give it her all on the latest season of SAS Australia, which is set to air this month on February 21 on Channel 7. “I am the person that won’t give up,” said the four-time Olympic and Commonwealth Games athlete. The successful diver has enjoyed a 19-year-long career and has won a number of accolades during that time including an Olympic Silver, Olympic Bronze, Commonwealth Gold and Commonwealth Silver medals.
But now, she’s ready to face a brand new challenge, and from the latest teaser of the show, it seems Melissa has finally met her match on the SAS course. Seen slamming headfirst into the ground during a glassing drill, the preview shows Chief Instructor Ant Middleton calling for medical assistance.
Standing at five feet tall (153 centimetres), Melissa is aware of the obstacles she may face, but she isn’t going to let that stop her. “I may not be the tallest or the strongest,” she says. “But what matters is that you keep bouncing back.”
Wu is one of 17 Aussie celebs embarking on a life-altering experience, where former SAS soldiers subject them to physical and psychological tests from the real SAS selection process.
Completely cut off from the outside world, the famous personalities will be stripped of their plushy lifestyles and will be required to eat, sleep and train together in tough conditions.
Returning to guide the recruits is Chief Instructor Ant Middleton and Directing Staff Ollie Ollerton. Joining them for the very first time will be retired US Navy SEAL Clint Emerson and former British Special Forces soldier Dean Stott.
SAS Australia premieres on February 21 on Channel 7 and 7plus.
