Who Will Make it to the Finish Line? Channel 7 Announces Premiere Date for SAS Australia
After weeks of dropping short clips and introducing us to the celebs taking part in the challenge, SAS Australia has finally unveiled their premiere date. The gruelling reality show will kick off after the Beijing Winter Olympics, which is currently airing on Channel 7.
Fans of the toughest competition on TV will be pleased to know that the first episode is going to be available to watch sooner than you think. 17 celebrities will take on a number of physical and psychological challenges from Monday, February 21.
The recruits will be pushed beyond their limits over the course of 14 days, and only the toughest will be able to make it to the end. If previous seasons are anything to go by, many of the contestants choose to voluntarily drop out after it becomes too tough to bear.
This year, the cast will include former athletes such as Barry Hall, Darius Boyd and Beanie Bridges, actors Pauly Fenech and Orpheus Pledger and also reality TV veterans Locky Gilbert and Anna Heinrich, who both found fame through The Bachelor franchise.
But physical strength doesn’t exactly equate to a “good recruit”. Instead, it’s usually sheer determination and willpower that gets people to the finish line. Last year, former NRL player Sam Burgess took home the title of SAS Australia, and despite his infamous reputation, the achievement is no easy feat.
Returning to guide the recruits is Chief Instructor Ant Middleton and Directing Staff Ollie Ollerton. Joining them for the very first time will be retired US Navy SEAL Clint Emerson and former British Special Forces soldier Dean Stott.
As usual, the four of them will interrogate and break down the walls of the celebrity recruits, and get to the bottom of some of the nation’s most talked-about scandals.
SAS Australia premieres on February 21 on Channel 7 and 7plus.
