The Voice Australia Has Crowned its Winner for 2022!
All good things must come to an end, and The Voice Australia is no exception. Tonight, the reality show crowned the winner of the 2022 season after an intense journey of blind auditions, callbacks, battle rounds and a semi-final.
The final four included Lachie Gill from Team Rita, Jordan Tavita from Team Guy, Team Jess’ Faith Sosene and Team Keith’s Thando Sikwila. Each of these talented vocalists stepped onto the arena and sang their hearts out in the hopes to win over Australia.
Each contestant gave a performance of their lifetime, but in the end it was Lachie Gill who received the most amount of votes, and was crowned the winner of The Voice 2022.
Gill ended the night $100,000 richer, and secured a contract with Universal Music Australia. Upon hearing the verdict, the contestant was beside himself, saying: “Oh my God, I just… from the start I never would have expected this and I’m just blown away. Thank you.”
His coach Rita said: First of all, it’s you, you won… Australia, thank you, thank you, this is amazing… I’m so happy for you. I can’t breathe.”
His fellow finalists may not have won the top prize, but they stunned the audience and coaches from the moment they appeared on our screens. Melbourne singer-songwriter Thando Sikwila belted out each high note to perfection during a rendition of Chaka Khan’s I’m Every Woman, securing her spot on Team Keith.
24-year-old Faith found herself in a similar situation. After her performance of Because You Loved Me by Celine Dion — which she dedicated to her mum who she takes care of every day — the young musician earned a place on Team Jess.
Jordan’s emotional performance of Michael Jackson’s Man in the Mirror landed him on Team Guy after he wowed the judge with his impressive vocals.
However, it was Melbourne P.E. teacher Lachie who came out on top. The singer was set to pursue a career in AFL before he decided to pivot into music. His rendition of JP Saxe and Julia Michaels’ If The World Was Ending during the blind auditions left Rita in awe, and the rest was history.
Congratulations to Lachie Gill!
