Meet the Talented Vocalists Who Are Stepping Onto the Stage for The Voice Australia
It’s time to warm up your vocal cords because The Voice is returning to our screens. Over 60 vocalists will take to the stage in the hopes to win over judges Guy Sebastian, Jessica Mauboy, Keith Urban and Rita Ora during the Blinds.
Earlier in the year, fans were treated to a one week special of The Voice Generations, which saw people of all ages compete alongside their loved ones. But now, the show is returning to its regular format. While a premiere date is yet to be announced, what we do know is that the competition will air sometime after Easter.
It’s definitely going to be tough to follow in the footsteps of last year’s winner Bella Taylor Smith, but the newest contestants certainly seem like they pack a punch.
Channel 7 are slowly drip-feeding the contestants to us, releasing the first two names. First up, we have Thando Sikwila, who brought her three-year-old daughter, Charlie, to her audition. The Melbourne singer-songwriter performed an impressive rendition of Chaka Khan’s I’m Every Woman.
“There is nothing wrong with following your ambitions and still wanting to be a mum. It is possible to live your dreams,” said Thando, revealing that it was her daughter who pushed her to audition.
“I think that whatever you do and wherever you go, it’s going to be spectacular,” Rita told her after she finished performing.
Next is Alley Eley, who was once humiliated by her teacher for singing in front of the class. The 19-year-old performed the 2000 hit, Teenage Dirtbag.
“We get a lot of fuel from the cheerleaders in our lives, but man we get a lot of fuel from the naysayers who say to us: ‘you’ll never amount to anything’,” Keith told Alley.
“You have just scratched the surface of something beyond your expectations,” added Rita.
