If you’ve ever watched a Spider-Man movie and found yourself wishing you could swing around a city for real, these games are as close as you’re going to get. Marvel’s Spider-Man and the standalone expansion Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales are both on PlayStation Plus, and they might be the best superhero games ever made.

God of War

Before God of War: Ragnarok comes out on November 9, catch up on the story of Kratos and Atreus in Midgard. God of War was a new, more mature era for the series, and it was praised for its emotional story as well as its accessibility options.

Ghost of Tsushima: Director’s Cut

In this open world RPG set in feudal Japan, you play as Jin Sakai, a samurai leading the resistance against a Mongol invasion led by Genghis Khan’s brutal grandson. Although you can play the game in English, it starts by default in Japanese, and you can play with a black and white filter that’s inspired by Kurosawa films. The Director’s Cut includes additional in-game content and the Iki Island expansion.

Returnal

A PS5 exclusive, third-person shooter roguelike, Returnal is as challenging as it is mysterious. You play as Selene, an astronaut who crash lands on an alien planet in search of… something. Returnal plays its cards close to its chest, but you learn more about the planet, and why you’re here, with each run.

Control: Ultimate Edition

Control is dark, spooky, weird and lots of fun. Playing as a woman named Jesse, you unintentionally become the new director of the Federal Bureau of Control, a sort of FBI for unexplained phenomenon. Trapped inside the bureau’s headquarters, an ominous building that shifts around you, you have to use your new-found physic abilities to fight back against a paranormal invasion and rescue your brother.

Until Dawn

If you enjoyed The Quarry, make sure you check out the game that started it all. Starring Rami Malek and Hayden Panettiere, Until Dawn is Supermassive’s first interactive horror game, about a group of friends whose weekend away takes a turn. The best way to play is with a group of friends, each of you controlling a different one of the eight playable characters and trying to get your character through the night.

Outer Wilds

If you want to play one of the most stunning games ever made, look no further. Outer Wilds is an open world mystery about a solar system trapped in an endless time loop. To fix time, you have to travel to every planet, moon, space station and black hole in the system. There’s no combat, no guns and no threat of death that can’t be undone by the next loop starting. If you’re lucky enough to own a PS5, you might want to wait until September 15, when a next-gen version is being released.

Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End and The Lost Legacy

The two most recent Uncharted games are both on PlayStation Plus. A Thief’s End is the most recent game with Nathan Drake, who’s searching for the legendary treasure of the pirate Henry Avery with his long-lost brother Sam. And The Lost Legacy follows unlikely allies Chloe Frazer and Nadine Ross as they search for the legendary tusk of Ganesh.

Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade

Another classic game entirely rebuilt from the ground up, Final Fantasy 7 Remake brings one of the series’ best to modern audiences. And the PS5 version Intergrade makes even more improvements to the graphics and gameplay.

Red Dead Redemption 2

Rockstar’s cowboy epic is set in a beautiful, in-depth open world that constantly changes around you. Playing as Arthur Morgan, you can cut and style your hair and watch it grow over time. You need to change your outfits to suit the weather. You’ll lose weight if you don’t eat enough and need to feed and brush your horse to keep them healthy. It’s one of the best games to show off the power of the PS5.

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla

This one’s for the history buffs (who don’t mind a bit of alternate history bleeding in). Ubisoft’s viking adventure is split into two distinct storylines: you play as Eivor, a Viking raider in England, and Odin, the Norse god of Asguard, and it’s thrilling to see these two storylines come together for the climactic finale.
