It’s no secret that during the pandemic, we appreciated online shopping more than ever before and since, have developed online retail habits that perhaps weren’t so ingrained before lockdowns.

But there’s just something about shopping at a physical retail store that can’t be compared to shopping online — it makes the purchase an entire experience, which someone gives it more value.

On episode three of POPSUGAR Australia’s podcast Dinner For Two, hosted by Alyce Tran, CEO and co-founder at Aje, Adrian Norris, gets real about the future of physical retail.

“The biggest thing for Aje is service, how do we find her the right outfit? How do we make her day better?” Norris says, on the impact having physical stores has on his brand’s success.

“That’s how you actually start getting sales. If you’re authentic to a customer, that’s what counts.”

When you think about your favourite brands, chances are, you think about more than just the clothes. You think about the lifestyle of the brand, the type of people that wear the clothes and what that will say about you, the way the clothes make you feel. And a bricks and mortar retail space plays an important role in shaping this.

“With our physical store, we created the world and the range and service that we wanted physically, which has allowed us to replicate it online and in our omniverse,” Norris explains.

“I always say that the best way to attract new customers is for them to walk past your store, that’s at the top of the funnel, because they’ve got your name up in lights and the clothes physically there to see and touch.”

“I strongly believe that physical retail will remain at the top of that funnel.”
