Just as Mercury retrograde comes to an end on June 22, we’re greeted with another planet moving backwards in space — say hello to Jupiter retrograde. Beginning on June 20, Jupiter retrograde is going to run far longer than the three weeks of Mercury retrograde, with Jupiter turning direct on October 18.
As a planet, Jupiter is all about growth. It helps us expand our knowledge and understanding of the world and, according to Cafe Astrology, represents “optimism, generosity, and abundance”. Over the next four months, you might start to question the way you do things and begin to push back on what is imposed on you by society.
During this retrograde period, Jupiter will travel through two signs, starting in Pisces and ending in Aquaris. The Jupiter in Pisces energy at the beginning of the retrograde might have you feeling a little dazed, says Astrology.com, and “perhaps overly optimistic about opportunities or people that aren’t exactly as we perceive them to be”. On the other hand, Jupiter in Pisces energy can also help you attract good fortune, especially when you lean into your compassionate side.
During this time, Cafe Astrology warns us to watch out for escapism or an unwillingness to face problems or negative situations. While it might feel uncomfortable, you don’t want to indulge the avoidant behaviour this retrograde might bring about for you.
Once Jupiter moves into Aquarius, this energy will morph and you’ll feel much more ready to open your mind as a means of progress. You might find that you’re feeling more community-minded during this time, as “Jupiter in Aquarius encourages fairness, impartiality, individuality, and humanitarianism”.
While this retrograde isn’t set to be as bumpy as the infamous Mercury retrograde, this is a good reminder to tap into how you’re feeling over the next few months and take stock of what is happening in your life. According to Astrology.com, hurt feelings could be a theme on August 10 and 19, so tread carefully.
And, while every sign will experience Jupiter retrograde differently, things could feel “a little intense” for Aries, Leo, Sagittarius and Pisces signs. Virgo, Scorpio, Capricorn and Gemini signs are also cautioned to take it slow during this time, as challenges are likely to pop up. “However, there can be some benefits to this planetary retrograde, which will likely be most felt within Taurus, Cancer, Libra, and Aquarius natives.”
Good luck!
