The Witches

It’s Anjelica Huston in a classic Roald Dahl adaptation! While Luke stays at a hotel with his grandma, he comes across a convention of witches where the leader has plans to turn children into mice. This is a cult classic with a PG rating, but we’d be remiss not to mention that it’s low-key terrifying (just based on the witch makeup alone), so it might be best suited for older children.

Room on the Broom

This sweet one-shot Netflix film is based on Julia Donaldson’s not-so-spooky picture book of the same name. Narrated by Simon Pegg, the heartfelt short is about a kind redhead witch who invites animals to hop onto her broom, despite the fact that her cranky cat is worried that it’ll get too crowded.

The Addams Family

The iconic version of The Addams Family (currently on Netflix, if you’re interested) might lean a little more morbid and wry, but the animated take is perfect for kids. Charlize Theron voices Morticia Addams, the witchy matriarch of this spooky household. While the family is trying to prepare for creepy relatives to visit, they find themselves the targets of a meddling TV personality.

Hocus Pocus

We’d be remiss to do a roundup of classic family witch movies without mentioning Hocus Pocus! This Disney classic stars Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Kathy Najimy as the Sanderson sisters, a trio of 300-year-old witches who wreak havoc on the town of Salem, MA.
