You Can Now Get a Lunar New Year Xbox if You Know Where to Look

There’s no denying that the Xbox Series S is a sleek console and now it’s getting a surprise makeover to elevate its aesthetic even higher. Xbox has teamed up with the Chinese cartoon artist Bu2ma (pronounced “Bu-er-ma”) to create a dreamy set of skins and wireless controllers inspired by the Lunar New Year and the Year of the Tiger.

The custom red and gold consoles reflect the customary Lunar New Year lucky colours. The design features a traditional illustration of a tiger and the Chinese character for the word tiger, ‘虎’, is written in gold on the back of the controller. According to the official Xbox Wire post, the design represents wellbeing and fortune, offering good will toward all gamers.

The catch is that there are only 15 of these Lunar New Year Xbox bundles being made, and the only way to get one is to enter the competition by retweeting this post:

The Xbox Series S has next-gen features like quick resume, ray tracing and 120 FPS capability. It comes with 512GB of internal storage on a super-fast SSD, and you can add an expansion drive if you want to create more space for your games. The most unique feature of the Series S is that it doesn’t have a disc drive, so you’ll need to buy your games digitally. Of course, Xbox Game Pass members will still be able to access titles like Halo Infinite, Mass Effect Legendary Edition and Pupperazzi on the Series S.

The Series S usually costs $499 — if you can find one in stock. Just like the PS5, the latest Xbox consoles are practically sold out everywhere, or in very limited supply. That makes winning one an even more exciting prospect.

PlayStation is also creating a gorgeous range of PS5 faceplates and wireless controllers, which are available in Australia in purple, pink, blue, red and black. Finally, next-gen consoles look as good as they perform.

The Lunar New Year Xbox competition is open now and ends on Friday, February 4 at 5pm AEST.
