Here’s What The Last of Us Part 1 Looks Like Running On PS5

Ellie and Joel in The Last of Us Part 1 PS5 remake.

We now have our best look yet of The Last of Us Part 1, the PS5 remaster of Naughty Dog’s critically acclaimed 2013 game, thanks to a leaked video of one of the most heartbreaking scenes in the entire game.

It looks like the video is from an unfinished build of the PS5 game, so things like the lighting and the background details will most likely be a bit more polished when the remake is released on September 2. But it still shows us the new character models of Joel and Ellie in action, and they look beautiful.

If you want to watch the video for yourself, it’s still online on Imgur here at the time of writing. Sony has been fairly swift taking down other leaks, so it’s not clear how much longer it will be up for. Spoiler warning for anyone who hasn’t played The Last of Us yet, as it’s from a pretty big moment in the middle of the game.

If you’ve already played or you’re not worried about spoilers, read on!

The video is of the tragic scene when an infected Sam attacks Ellie, causing his brother Henry to shoot him. It’s a particularly devastating moment in the game because Joel and Ellie’s short-lived time with the brothers is one of their only moments of reprieve from the violence of their journey.

Right before this, Henry and Joel watch Ellie and Sam play and Henry even says that it’s been a long time since Sam was so happy, which makes his sudden turn so much more shocking.

To really see how far the graphics have come in the PS5 remake, watch the original scene on the PS3 here. Even with the unfinished assets, the new version is much nicer to look at and way more realistic.

The Last of Us Part 1 releases on September 9 for PS5, with a PC version rumoured to be coming soon after. You can pre-order it here.
