Pokémon Scarlet and Violet is now out, but it’s not quite the experience fans were hoping for. The first fully open world Pokémon game with 4-player co-op is riddled with glitches and low-res graphics — it’s so bad that most of the talk about the game so far has been focused on people sharing the weirdest bugs they’ve encountered in Paldea.
While it hasn’t stopped fans from enjoying the game, the piss poor performance is incredibly frustrating, especially as Pokémon is the highest grossing media franchise of all time. Claims that it’s because of the Switch are inaccurate, too, considering the console can run The Witcher 3 and Crysis Remastered with ease. We were surprised when Nintendo announced it was releasing two Pokémon games this year, and perhaps Scarlet and Violet should have been pushed back a year to give Game Freak more time. Because not only is Pokémon Scarlet and Violet a buggy mess, it’s landscapes are also butt ugly and devoid of any detail, and some of the features that fans love most, like being able to change outfits, are simply missing.
It’s not all bad though. The NPCs in Scarlet and Violet are muscle-bound freaks (in the best possible way) who often tower over the player character exuding big Step On Me energy, and one of the new Pokémon is Tandemaus, a cute mouse couple who have two baby mice when they evolve into Maushold. Beyond that, one common glitch sees poor Jigglypuff being picked up by strong winds and simply… blowing away, which is objectively funny, no notes.
But enough reading about it! It’s much funnier to watch the chaos unfold with your own eyes. Please enjoy this modest and (sadly) by no means complete collection of the best Pokémon Scarlet and Violet glitches.
