The second Booster Course Pass for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe released on August 5, and keen-eyed fans think it includes hints for some of the tracks that are being added in future DLC.
The discovery was shared on Twitter by Fishguy6564, who credits it to YouTuber recordereader, and essentially comes down to the fact that the game files include a list of songs that are associated with iconic Mario Kart tracks that aren’t yet in 8 Deluxe. The theory is that these songs have been added to the game files now as placeholders for future updates.
15 songs were found (and compiled by YouTuber BLBambooMK2) that point to tracks like Wario Colosseum, Maple Treeway and the 3DS version of Rainbow Road. Here’s the full list of the leaked Mario Kart 8 Deluxe DLC tracks:
- London Loop (Mario Kart Tour)
- Peach Gardens (Mario Kart DS)
- Boo Lake/Broken Pier (Mario Kart: Super Circuit)
- Rock Rock Mountain (Mario Kart 7)
- Berlin Byways (Mario Kart Tour)
- Waluigi Stadium/Wario Colosseum (Mario Kart: Double Dash!!)
- Merry Mountain (Mario Kart Tour)
- Rainbow Road (Mario Kart 7)
- Amsterdam Drift (Mario Kart Tour)
- Singapore Speedway (Mario Kart Tour)
- Los Angeles Laps (Mario Kart Tour)
- Sunset Wilds (Mario Kart: Super Circuit)
- Bangkok Rush (Mario Kart Tour)
- Vancouver Velocity (Mario Kart Tour)
- Maple Treeway (Mario Kart Wii)
Nintendo plans to release six Booster Course Pass DLCs in waves, with each wave adding eight courses, until the end of 2023. With last week’s wave 2, there are now 16 of the 48 DLC courses in the game.
Of course, the existence of these files doesn’t guarantee their associated track will be added in a future DLC, but the same thing happened when wave 1 was released, and many of the leaks turned out to be true.
And if all of these tracks are added it still only takes us up to 31, so there’s the possibility of fan-favourites like DK Mountain, Airship Fortress, Koopa Troopa Beach and Baby Park coming to Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.
