With the warmer months slowly fading away, we’re reaching into our drawers for lightweight jumpers and pants, only to find that we have more clothes than we need.
Sound relatable?
If you’re like us and feel the urge to clean out your wardrobe as we go into Autumn/Winter, then we have just the tip for you.
Dress for Dignity — the sister organisation of women’s charity Share the Dignity — has just recently re-launched their online store with clear messaging: ‘clean out your closet, earn money and make an impact’.
A charitable, pre-loved fashion marketplace, funds go towards women fleeing domestic violence or doing it tough.
So, how would you feel about helping another woman out of a yucky situation whilst making money from your pre-loved clothes? Sounds like a win-win we can’t resist, personally.
Scroll down for how it all works.
How Does Dress for Dignity Work?
Dress for Dignity facilitates your high-quality fashion sales, helping you to clean out your closet, earn coin and make some changes.
Let someone else love the unwanted clothes and accessories sitting in your closet, and make some money (and some room) for your next purchase. Not only are you helping raise funds to support women in need, you’re also embracing sustainable fashion practises — not sending your clothes to landfill by throwing them away, but recycling them for good.
The online shopping platform works as another way for Share the Dignity to raise money towards systemic issues such as domestic violence against women, period poverty and unemployment. The charity’s goal is to reach as many women under the poverty line and in need in Australia as possible.
As well as making money through online sales, Dress for Dignity also offers up affordable fashion options for women who are looking to make a sustainable and accessible purchase.
How Can You Start Making Money (and a Positive Impact)?
Getting involved with Dress for Dignity really quite simple. We’ve broken the steps down for you below.
- Create an account. In order to sell items, you’ll need to create an account on the website, which will only take a few minutes. You can create an account here.
- Upload your items. Take some clear photos of your garment — of you wearing it, hanging up in front of a white wall or of the original photo online — and upload them to sell. In this step, you can choose to keep 80 per cent of the profit, with the rest going towards women in need.
- Ship to the buyer. Now this step is way less complicated than it sounds. When an item is listed for sale with shipping selected, the flat rate postage will be added onto to sale price when the buyer pays for the item. That means you don’t have to do anything except drop it off at the post office!
- Receive money. Once you list your item and opt to keep some of the sale funds you will be asked to connect your PayPal account ready for us to distribute the funds to you when your item sells. Dress the Dignity will distribute the funds to you 14 days after the item sells.
- Feel good! Now you get to feel fab because not only have you earnt some fab money, you’ve also contributed to help women in need. It’s all a huge vibe.
