Can’t figure out what to wear on a long haul flight? Consider three things: you’ll be spending a long time sitting, the weather is going to switch up (that arctic plane chill!) and finally, whoever’s dropping you off might want to take a few pics to post on their Instagram story (that might just be me).
So, with all that in mind, you’ll need a layered ‘fit that’s comfy, but still acceptable enough to wear out of the house. Ahead, we’ve pulled together some of our favourite pieces to shop before you take off.
Turtleneck Knit Sweater
Winter is finally upon us and to keep you warm as you make your way through airports, try the Pull&Bear Turtleneck Knit Sweater ($35.95). Pair it with some baggy bottoms so you can sit or move with ease. It’ll give you a good base for any impending layering and keep you warm when the in-flight air conditioner is a touch too cold.
Silk Pajamas
When you’re done watching movies and you’re ready for a plane nap, slip into these Midnight Black Silk Pajamas ($249) to make yourself really cozy. The set is hypoallergenic and acts as great protection for sensitive skin.
Black Sweatpants
Wearing jeans on a flight is a big mistake, you just can’t sit comfortably. Throw on these ANY-Time Sweats LT Unisex Joggers ($119.98) instead.
Oversized Hoodie
All the rage over the last two winters, White Fox Boutique has dropped another collection of outerwear for 2023. The Archive 6.0 Oversized Hoodie ($79.95) is just the right amount of cozy so you can curl up in your seat or go full celebrity incognito mode — sunnies and all — as you walk through the airport.
For a more plain option, this classic Reverse Weave Hoodie ($119.99) is slightly more fitted but still maintains that oversized aesthetic and comfort that you can sink into.
Chunky Slippers or Sandals
A squishy, chunky sandal or sneaker is a godsend on a long-haul flight. The UGG Sport Yeahs ($99.99) are easy to kick off when you’re clipped in or slip on for a bathroom run. And they can easily be worn poolside or running through a hostel on your adventure.
Longbay’s Double Buckle Adjustable EVA Slide Slippers ($25.99) are ideal for long wear. One of downsides of wearing sandal style slippers is that after a while it can feel like your feet are being suffocated by the straps. But fortunately, the adjustable double straps allow your feet to feel free while simultaneously being secure. These are available in 4 different colours to suit your aesthetic — black, off-white, grey and pink.
Silk Sleep Mask
Getting some shut eye on a plane can be kinda hard, so a light-blocking Silk Satin Sleeping Mask ($13.22) can help with quality sleep. It’s good for your skin too!
Body Bag
Throw your phone, passport and other smaller online essentials into this Round Mini Shoulder Bag ($19.90). The best part is the sheer amount of space inside and you can always keep it close to you at all times. It’s light and can be your second item on a plane, other than your carry on.
