Since then, Ruby has starred in movies like “John Wick: Chapter 2” and “The Meg” and has continued to be a style icon and LGBTQ+ activist.

Who Has Ruby Rose Dated?

Ruby Rose has always been open about her sexuality and has been in several high-profile relationships over the years. In 2008, she began dating model Catherine McNeil, and the couple quickly became one of the most talked-about couples in the Australian fashion world. However, the relationship was short-lived, and the two broke up after just a few months.

In 2016, Ruby began dating musician Jess Origliasso, one half of the pop duo The Veronicas. The couple quickly became serious and even got engaged in 2019. However, the engagement was short-lived, and the couple announced their split later that same year.

Since Origliasso, Rose has been linked to other famous women, including American model Harley Gusman, singer Halsey, actress Caity Lotz and DJ and record producer Lauren Abedini.

So Who Was Ruby Rose Engaged to?

As we mentioned earlier, Ruby Rose was engaged to Jess Origliasso of The Veronicas. The two were together publicly between 2016 – 2018. Their relationship was highly publicised and seemingly very complicated. We’re going to do our best to break it down for you.

Starting out as friends, Ruby Rose and Jess Origliasso met on set of The Veronicas’ music video for “Untouched”, in 2008. It’s said that they briefly dated back then, but neither Rose or Origliasso ever confirmed this.

Regardless, their romantic relationship became public late 2016, after Rose wrote, directed and starred in the steamy music video for The Veronica’s hit “On Your Side”. In the video, the two play lovers who are constantly fighting the barriers of what it means to be a same-sex couple in modern society. Their relationship is shown to be extremely passionate and up-and-down.

“We’ve had such an incredible journey just as friends over the last eight years and then we shot this music video and something changed for us. She’s just incredible and I just had to tell her how I felt,” Origliasso confessed to Rove McManus and Sam Frost on air back in 2016.

“I am the luckiest person in the world to be with someone who’s the most compassionate, ambitious, strong, beautiful woman.”

However, given their busy schedules and different home bases, the two were mostly in a long-term relationship, which Rose revealed to be quite the challenge.

“We’re at a point now where we properly know how to communicate at a long distance which has been the hardest thing I think for anyone in the industry, having a long-distance relationship,” she told Kyle and Jackie O.

The couple were briefly engaged in 2018, with them both sharing respective posts on their social accounts, along with cute captions.

Rose’s post featured several photos of the couple, including one of them kissing in front of a beautiful sunset. She wrote in the caption, “We’re engaged!! Thank you for being my best friend, my soulmate, and my everything. I love you more than words can describe @jessicaveronica.”

However, they went on to announce their split a few months later, in 2018.

“Break ups are always incredibly hard on the people involved but I can only be grateful for the experiences we shared. It’s with a heavy heart to share that Jess and I parted ways a few months ago. We still love each other very much and I will always support her and be her biggest advocate. With love x.”

And after the break-up, things got messier.

Do Ruby Rose and Jess Origliasso Still Talk?

Not… exactly.

In The Veronicas’s reality show, “Blood is for Life”, Origliasso revealed how her relationship with Rose impacted her bond with her twin sister, Lisa.

“After almost 15 years of The Veronicas, there was no discussion, no announcement, it just stopped,” Jess said.

“Lis and I didn’t talk for a year. I was in a relationship that wasn’t good for me. I became isolated. I had nobody anymore, I only had my relationship. I didn’t have my mum or my dad. When it became too much for me, I walked away.”

Things got even uglier when, seven months after the break-up, Origliasso went public with her new partner, Kai Carlton.

“Congratulations, so happy for you both,” Rose commented on the photo, but Jess’ response was not so sweet.

“@RubyRose I have requested you not contact me for over four months now. You have been given my grace of being ignored on every other private platform, so the fact you continue to ignore this to contact me here publicly under the guise of wishing me well, is continued harassment,” the musician replied.

Ruby responded: “That is news to me. Copy that. Good vibes only.”

Where Is Ruby Rose Now?

In February 2023, Ruby announced that she was writing a book. In an Instagram story, she implied she would be would be singling out The Veronicas in her memoir.

“The truth. It will p*ss a lot of people off… On the sisters? You’re first. How horrific you were,” she wrote, with the “sisters” in question being the Veronicas.

But in an interview with the radio hosts, the Aussie actress revealed why she lashed out at the time.

“I just was really kind of hurt in that moment and definitely lashed out, and I need to be away from social media,” she said.

She recalled the time she stumbled across a picture from “Pitch Perfect 3” premiere when she was still with Jess. She told the hosts how “emaciated”, “dissociated” and “broken” she looked in the image, adding, “I got filled with rage, because I was like, ‘how did I let it get that bad?’ So that’s why I wrote what I wrote.”

While the post hinted at The Veronicas being the target of her memoir, Rose clarified it’s not a “revenge book”.

“It’s really important to me that I do clarify some things, some truths that were really not cool,” she explained. “It’s not some sort of tell-all, or like Prince Harry.”
