The Voice Generations is set to air at the end of this month and Channel 7 have dropped the first look into the upcoming season. Judges Jessica Mauboy, Keith Urban, Rita Ora and Guy Sebastian all shared their fondest musical memories, alongside a few clips from the show.
After a young boy finishes his performance, Jessica can be seen welling up.
“To land on this stage and perform like that was absolutely outstanding. Nothing like it,” she says in complete awe. In the teaser, the beloved Aussie vocalist reminisces about her childhood, saying she used to harmonise with her sisters.
“There is no greater feeling than singing with my family,” she says. “Dad would always be on the guitar playing.”
This was followed by Guy Sebastian sharing one of his own memories, saying: “There is nothing that makes me tear up more than hearing my own kids sing, or love music and discover all that I discovered growing up.”
Keith Urban spoke about the moment he learned to play the guitar, saying: “I started playing guitar when I was six. My dad played drums and my grandfather played piano. I was really lucky to have really supportive parents.”
And UK pop star Rita Ora, who is back to coach the contestants for a second time, spoke about her father, who used to perform at a pub in London when she was a child.
“My father owns pubs and I would go and sing at the pubs. That was the highlight of my weekend,” she says.
This will be the first year The Voice Generations will air. For one week only, the country’s greatest voices from all different age groups will come together to perform on stage.
Despite the short run, the format will still include Blind Auditions, a Battle round and a Grand Finale.
The Voice Generations will premiere on January 31 on Channel 7 and 7plus.
