Married At First Sight has well and truly kicked off. Now that each person has had their wedding ceremony, the drama surrounding the show are dominating headlines. Whether it’s Anthony and Selin’s dysfunctional relationship (we were seriously rooting for those two!) or Brent’s foot phobia, this season is full of ups and downs. But there are wholesome moments too, believe it or not, one of them being Jackson and Olivia, who we have high hopes for.
16 singles entered the controversial social experiment in the hopes to find love, and while few have truly found their life partner through the show, it still makes for some entertaining television. At the first dinner party, Selin unleashed on Anthony, rallying all the girls to go against him. There have been walkouts, a groom telling his bride that he’s not attracted to her (which frankly, had racist connotations) and one man having the audacity to tell his “wife” that she’s bad in bed.
It’s been a wild ride from the start and despite most of the contestants giving us inexplicable rage, it’s still important to know who is married to who. The show, which sees three “experts” match two people together based on their compatibility is certainly questionable at times, but that doesn’t mean Married At First Sight never has any success stories. Last year, the most toxic couple from the show, Bryce and Melissa, are now engaged and have welcomed two twin boys, so it’s not all doom and gloom (despite you know, the relationship not being a healthy one).
Ever since the show’s premiere, Twitter has had an absolute field day, with some furious about what the show seems to be promoting. There have been scenes where a bride gaslighted her groom and another where Texan-born-and-raised Andrew told his partner Holly that he’s slept with over 350 women, alluding to the fact that he’s better at sex than she is. And of course, we can’t forget the appalling moment when Cody told Selina he isn’t attracted to her because she’s Asian, seriously? It’s 2022, do better.
So now that I’ve gotten all of that off my chest, let’s get into the couples of Married At First Sight 2022.
Married At First Sight airs at 7.30pm on Channel 9 and 9Now.
