It seems like couples who rock ostentatious manicures together, stay together.
Our favourite goth glam girlie Megan Fox upped her manicure game at the 2023 Grammys with razor-sharp chrome stiletto nails (we reckon you could cut a loaf of stale bread with them) adorned with glittering, elongated crucifixes.
On closer inspection, that chrome finish was 14 karat white gold, and the crucifixes were genuine diamonds.
Fox enlisted the minds behind fiance Machine Gun Kelly’s infamous $30,000 USD Billboard Music Awards manicure. Nail artist Brittney Boyce collaborated with Jillian Sassone, founder and creative director of Marrow Fine Jewelry to create the mesmerising look. Of course, when you’re working with 14 karat gold and diamonds there’s not a lot of room for error, and the execution of this ornamental manicure was complicated.
First, Boyce used Apres GelX Extensions to create the perfect stiletto shape, tailoring them to Megan’s nail beds. If it weren’t for all that chrome, we’d believe they were hers. Then, a 3D nail artist scanned each individual nail, creating perfect wax moulds before casting each in chrome gold.
The manicure gave the perfect edge to Fox’s otherwise soft and slightly bridal beauty look — proving her reigning status as the queen of Goth-Luxe. Fox’s overall look was Botticelli-esque. She bucked the short hair trend with wore her raven hair in a middle part, cascading past her shoulders with slightly wet-look waves (the wet-hair trend was also seen on Lizzo) and a signature soft siren eye. Fox’s flushed, rosey pink cheeks and glossy lips matched the satiny perfection of her Zuhair Murad gown — fresh off the Paris Fashion Week runway.
While Fox and Machine Gun Kelly haven’t announced a wedding date, Fox seemed to be making her best efforts to keep the pending nuptials front of mind with the regal white column dress encrusted with crystal details and baroque patterns.
Although we’re yet to get a cost analysis and see if Megan Has outspent fiance Machine Gun Kelly on this nail look, Fox has demonstrated that in 2023, she’s still the queen of haute couture goth.
