A little bit, but hear us out. “Hair in this style is worn extremely long and unstructured, with a natural, fluffy wave,” Tom Smith, celebrity hairstylist and international colour creative director for Evo Hair, tells POPSUGAR. Just picture the people in Renaissance paintings with their long, tousled, flowing hair.

Smith describes “Botticelli” hair as being “extremely youthful,” with a “Mother Earth,” flower-child vibe. “This style shows a free and relaxed energy,” he says. The extra-long length also gives the look a luxurious, ethereal feel, but in an effortless way. The “Botticelli” haircut trend is a drastic departure from the choppy shag haircuts that have been the go-to all winter long – we’re talking the ever-popular bixie, octopus, and wolf cuts – but as the weather warms up, it may be just the thing you need to refresh your look.

How to Get “Botticelli” Hair

Before heading to the salon for a light trim, look for reference photos of the look. Celebrities rocking the carefree, beachy style include Gigi Hadid, Megan Fox, Rihanna, and Addison Rae.

“Ask your stylist to keep your hair as long as possible, softening any blunt lines and encouraging your natural wave,” says Smith. If you need a little help in the length department, it may be a fun time to experiment with hair extensions.

How to Style the “Botticelli” Haircut Trend

“If you don’t have natural waves, use a small curling tong and twist large sections around, stretching them out while still hot to get the fluffy, elongated waves,” Smith says. For a heat-free option, try scrunching some Kevin Murphy, Hair Resort ($43) cream into your hair while it’s damp, braiding it into two loose pigtails, and sleep in them.
