Megan Fox and Machine Gun Kelly’s red carpet outings have taught us to always expect the unexpected, but nothing could’ve prepared us for the couple’s latest statement-making appearance. While attending the launch party for MGK’s new nail polish line, UN/DN LAQR, the two posed for the cameras with their pinky nails linked together by a long silver chain – because being metaphorically attached at the hip wasn’t enough to illustrate their bond, apparently. Their coordinating look is the perfect candidate for TikTok’s “tell me you’re obsessed with your partner without actually telling me” trend, if you ask us.
Los Angeles-based nail artist Brittney Boyce, the mastermind behind their wild nail art, explained how she used fishnet and three different polish shades from MGK’s brand – “Party Favour,” “25 to Life,” and “Depressionist” – to accomplish the snakeskin design that covered all of Fox’s stiletto-shaped acrylics and MGK’s matching pinky acrylic. She then punctured their pinky nails with a nail piercer and attached two rings that connected to a thin chain. Of course, pierced nails are nothing new, as the edgy trend was pioneered by Black women back in the ’80s and ’90s. But linking them together? Yeah, that’s something we’ve never seen before, and we’re hardly surprised it was Fox and MGK who introduced us to it.
Upon seeing photographic evidence of their one-of-a-kind manicures, many questions came to mind. First and foremost, did they unhook the chain while using the bathroom that night, or did they pull a Meghan Trainor and Daryl Sabara and request that the venue install side-by-side toilets for the occasion? Did they have to practice a slowed-down red carpet walk beforehand, so they didn’t accidentally rip each other’s acrylics off while walking in tandem? Whose idea was this, and how on earth did it even come about? Let us know what other questions come to mind after taking a closer look at their chained-together nails ahead.
