The “Espresso” Hair Color Trend Is Moody and Perfect for Winter
This winter’s biggest hair-color predictions will have you wanting to run to the hair salon on a monthly basis to rotate through them all. From “winter gold” to “brownie-batter brunette,” the options are too good to pass up. “Espresso hair,” for example, is another rising trend that gets its name from a beloved beverage – only this one is just moody enough to fit your cold-weather aesthetic.
As the name suggests, the color is a very dark brown that almost looks black, and you can see the chocolate tones better under sunlight. “It’s smart to transition into this dramatic color during the cooler months to prevent fading due to sun exposure,” she tells POPSUGAR. Colorist Rex Jimieson agrees, adding that achieving the hue is as simple as adding “black to your medium or dark-brown base color with foils or balayage rather than going completely solid. Ask for a demipermanent so you can change it down the road and it will be super shiny.”
