The “Winter Gold” Hair-Colour Trend Is Taking Over Hollywood
- “Winter gold” is going to be a popular hair-color choice for 2023.
- The color is perfect for those with medium- to dark-brown hair.
- Stars like Hailey Bieber, Lily Collins, Kaia Gerber, and Olivia Wilde have already debuted winter-gold hair this year.
With Halloween behind us, and in the US, it’s time to transition for winter. For some, this means opting for different nail designs, while for others, it means experimenting with new makeup looks, but if you’re the kind of person who likes to celebrate change of season with a new hair color, we have just the thing. While “flannel highlights” and “honey chestnut” are all great options, the “winter gold” hair-color trend deserves to be at the top of your list.
No matter your base color, adding golden tones to your hair can warm up your overall look in the cooler months. Winter gold, in particular, is perfect for medium- to dark-brown hair. “[It’s] a brunette shade that uses gold as the dominant tone, rather than red, chocolate, or ash,” celebrity hairstylist and Evo Hair brand ambassador Tom Smith says.
Stars like Hailey Bieber, Lily Collins, Kaia Gerber, and Olivia Wilde have already debuted the winter-gold hair color, further proving just how hot the particular shade is going to be this year. At the salon, Smith says to ask your stylist for a level six or seven shade of brown with golden tones – a pro will be able to tailor the look ever so slightly to complement your skin tone. Those hesitant on fully committing but still interested in testing the look out can “try using demi color if you’re currently a lighter tone.”
If you do opt for the real deal, Smith has some tips for maintaining the golden-brown look between salon visits. “You can maintain the shine and golden reflections at home with pigmented conditioners that add extra gloss,” he says.
