Locky Gilbert Is Off to a Rocky Start on SAS Australia
The countdown to SAS Australia is on, and Channel 7 have been slowly giving us previews as to what we can expect from the upcoming season. One of the celebrity contestants this year is reality TV veteran Locky Gilbert who appeared on Bachelor and Australian Survivor.
After falling in love with Irena Srbinovksa on The Bachelor, Locky is now taking a crack at SAS Australia — his third reality show.
But it seems he can’t charm his way through this one, because after watching the trailer, looks like he’s already off to a rocky start. Introduced as the “reality TV guy”, Locky is seen getting frustrated at comedian, writer and actor Paul Fenech, who is best known for his work on Fat Pizza and Housos.
“He’s a reality guy, all the girls fawn over him,” Paul says about him, while Ant Middleton on the other end is telling Locky he’s too cocky.
“This isn’t a reality show, do you understand me?” says Ant. In Locky’s defense, though, SAS Australia is a reality show, albeit quite an extreme one.
“This is my fourth TV show, how hard can this be?” Locky can be heard asking. “I’m an egotistical fame-junkie, I am this tough alpha male.”
Um, bit of a strange thing to say but moving on.
Gilbert is one of 17 Aussie celebs embarking on a life-altering experience, where former SAS soldiers subject them to physical and psychological tests from the real SAS selection process.
Completely cut off from the outside world, the famous personalities will be stripped of their plushy lifestyles and will be required to eat, sleep and train together in tough conditions.
Returning to guide the recruits is Chief Instructor Ant Middleton and Directing Staff Ollie Ollerton. Joining them for the very first time will be retired US Navy SEAL Clint Emerson and former British Special Forces soldier Dean Stott.
SAS Australia premieres in February on Channel 7 and 7plus.
