“It Gives Me My Best Skin Day”: Ultra Violette’s Co-Founder on the Brand’s New Tinted SPF Launch
There’s a new babe on the beauty block, and we’re so excited to welcome it to the world. Australian SPF brand Ultra Violette has a cult following thanks to its silky and non-greasy sunscreen formulas and this new product launch is only going to increase the love and affection for this brand.
Dream Screen is Ultra Violette’s newest baby and it’s the tinted SPF product you’ve always wanted but have never been able to find. According to Ultra Violette co-founder, Ava Chandler-Matthews, Dream Screen is “a sheer, flexible tinted sunscreen that leaves a gorgeous, dewy sheen to the skin”.
Designed with the same consistency as Ultra Violette’s best-selling Queen Screen, the Dream Screen product offers SPF 50 protection, sheer-medium coverage and buffs into the skin easily. It took quite a while to perfect this formula, says Chandler-Matthews, but the end result was worth the wait.
“First, we had to nail the formula, then ensure it passed SPF testing, then work on the shade range (this took the longest) and then the transition from our chemist to our manufacturer was also pretty time consuming as they basically have to match the form and finish (and shade) so you’re almost starting again,” Chandler-Matthews told POPSUGAR Australia.
“As we’re SPF specialists and not makeup experts we worked with makeup artists to ensure we had the right benchmarks and representation. We didn’t want to work too closely with tone as it’s such a sheer product that we wanted to ensure that any one shade could be worn by as many people as possible.”
The Dream Screen range includes 11 flexible shades that are designed to adapt to your skin tone. Given the sheer coverage, each shade should suit a number of skin tones. Getting the shade range right for Dream Screen was the biggest hurdle for the team when creating this product.
“It’s still a work in progress,” said Chandler-Matthews. “No brand got it right straight away — we tested extensively on multiple skin shades and worked with makeup artists to get it to where it is but it’s not complete yet, we are wanting to get real-time feedback to complete our offering on top of the existing shades based on our testing.”
While Dream Screen does include SPF in its formulation, this product isn’t designed to replace your sunscreen. Rather, Dream Screen should be used after your Ultra Violette Skinscreen as it’s intended to act as a secondary sunscreen that sits snugly over your SPF, with added protection being a lovely bonus.
The tinted formula is designed to leave you looking glowy and dewy but never looks oily or patchy. You also won’t have to deal with any redness popping up through the coverage, this baby is designed to settle into your skin easily and leave it looking healthy.
When asked why she loves the product, Chandler-Matthews replied “because it gives me my best skin day. I just love how my skin looks when I’m wearing it! it’s also a second layer of protection for me which is also reassuring as I have pigmentation so the iron oxides in it help protect against visible light.”
