And just like that, the 65th Grammy Awards have officially wrapped up. It was a magical night as the who’s who of the music industry gathered in Los Angles for the special occasion.
The show was hosted by Trevor Noah and included stellar performances from Harry Styles, Lizzo, Luke Combs, Bad Bunny, Steve Lacy, Sam Smith and Kim Petras which left the audience in awe, and let’s not forget the exciting list of nominations!
It’s not called music’s night of night for nothing. We saw records break and history be made, making it a truly exceptional award show.
There was plenty to celebrate throughout the night, but here are just some of the highlights from the 65th Grammy Awards.
Beyoncé Breaks Record For Most Grammy Wins Ever
She did it. Beyoncé has made history after breaking the all-time record for most Grammy wins after taking out Best Dance/Electronic Album.
The star showed her Queen B status as she led the 2023 Grammys race with nine nominations for her album “Renaissance”. And now, she has won 32, beating Georg Solti’s record for the most overall wins in Grammys history. She is tied with her husband Jay-Z for the most nominations, with 88.
In her acceptance speech, she said: “I’m trying not to be too emotional and I’m just trying to receive this night. I want to thank God for protecting me, thank you God.”
“I’d like to thank my Uncle Johnny who isn’t here but he’s here in spirit. I’d like to thank my parents, my father, my mother for loving me and pushing me.”
“I’d like to thank my beautiful husband and my beautiful three children who are watching at home. I’d like to thank the beautiful queer community for your love and [for] inventing this genre.”
“Thank you so much to the Grammys.”

Harry Styles Takes Out Album of the Year
Harry Styles took out the biggest award of the night, winning Album of the Year for “Harry’s House”.
The star, who was up against artists like Beyoncé, Lizzo and Adele, was shocked and lost for words as he accepted the award.
“I’ve been so inspired by every artist in this category with me,” he said.
“On nights like tonight, there are no such things as ‘best’ in music. This is really really kind. I’m so grateful. This doesn’t happen to people like me very often.”
Kim Petras Becomes the First Trans Woman to Win a Grammy
Sam Smith and Kim Petras took out the win for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance for their hit song “Unholy”, and made history in the process, as Kim became the first trans woman to ever win a Grammy.
Sam supported Kim as she made a touching speech, noting that they told her to accept the award due to its historical significance.
“I just wanted to thank all the incredible transgender legends before me who kicked these doors open for me so I could be here tonight,” Kim said during her speech.
“Sophie, especially, my friend who passed away two years ago, who told me this would happen and always believed in me. Thank you so much for your inspiration, Sophie. I adore you and your inspiration will forever be in my music.”
Beyoncé Wins Best R&B Song, But Is Nowhere to Be Seen
EGOT winner Viola Davis announced the winner for the Best R&B song, with Beyoncé’s smash hit “Cuff It” taking out the win, but the star wasn’t even in the building to accept her first major award of the night.
Niles Rodgers accepted the award on her behalf, while host Trevor Noah explained she was stuck in “traffic”.
“The best part about hosting the Grammys in LA is that everyone can attend,” said host Trevor Noah. “But it also means terrible traffic.”
Eventually, our Queen B arrived looking as great as ever.
“The queen is officially in the building. Ladies and gentlemen; Beyoncé Knowles,” Noah said, as he handed Beyoncé her Grammy.
“I was surprised to hear that traffic held you up,” he continued, “I thought you could travel through space and time.”

Viola Davis Earned Her EGOT
Actress Viola Davis took home the Grammy Award for best audiobook, narration and storytelling for her memoir “Finding Me”, making her one of the few people in history to reach EGOT (Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony) status.
The “Woman King” actress, 57, is now the third Black woman in history to earn the honour, after Whoopi Goldberg and Jennifer Hudson, and only the 18th person to do so overall.
