Known for sending models down the runway with elaborate, ethereal and whimsical makeup, it makes sense that luxury Italian fashion house Valentino wants to dip its toe into the world of beauty. And now, that dream is a reality, with Valentino’s makeup line launching globally in August 2021. Lucky ducks in the US will be able to pre-order products as of June 1.
The Valentino Beauty line will include 14 core products comprising of foundation (which will include 40 different shades!), eyeliner, eyeshadow and lipstick, of which there will be 50 shades. According to Glamour, these products have been extensively tested across 5000 skin tones, which was important for Valentino’s creative director Pierpaolo Piccioli. “I wanted everyone to have the possibility to play with our products, matching not only their skin, but also their emotions,” Piccioli said.
The packaging used in this line will largely be refillable as well, including the lipsticks. The hero product of the collection is the Go-Clutch, a tiny red and gold clutch that holds a miniature Valentino lipstick and the brand’s face powder. But, in true Valentino style, comes with a delicate gold chain so you can wear the clutch as a fashion accessory as well — you’ll never have to deal with shine or dodgy lipstick again with this baby!

“As a designer, I am driven by the urge to witness such evolution,” said Valentino’s creative director Pierpaolo Piccioli. “To me, it’s very important to deliver this idea of beauty through the makeup. The genesis was to create a clash: to embrace a new generation bringing out their own individual beauty, and at the same time to create a makeup collection that could bring excellence and experimentation of couture.”
Valentino is the latest fashion house to enter the makeup market, joining brands like Gucci, Giorgio Armani, Dior, Burberry and Chanel. And, while there’s currently no word on how or where you’ll be able to shop the Valentino beauty offering come August, we’ll keep you updated when we know more.
