On the lookout for the perfect body moisturiser to keep your skin soft and supple this winter? I got the tea.
If you had one question to ask Kylie Jenner‘s makeup artist, what would it be? That’s what I thought pre my interview with Ariel Tejada, Kylie Jenner’s go-to makeup artist and the creator of some of her best looks.
Scrolling through Ariel’s Instagram before our conversation, I saw plenty to ask about. What lipstick is she wearing? What makes her look flawless in every photo (it’s not what you’d expect), what was it like working around the lion’s head at Schiaparelli? There were a lot of answers, but my biggest question scrolling through countless images of Kylie on Ariel’s page? What gives her body that lit from within soft golden glow?
I guessed Tom Ford, Soleil de Blanc Shimmering Body Oil ($165). I’m an ex-makeup artist, and it’s one of the most popular body products in most editorial and bridal MUAs kits. It’s infused with gold and platinum leaf, instantly illuminating the body. It smells of creamy amber and sandalwood, with cardamom and pistachio notes are thrown in, and smells like summer in a bottle. It also costs three figures and is an oil — a tricky formula to work with when manoeuvring around your slinkiest, sexiest evening wear.
The Kylie Jenner Approved Dupe
Imagine my surprise when Jenner’s MUA spilt the tea: “I really love a cheap body cream from the drugstore — Eucerin. It’s like this intensively moisturising body moisturiser,” said Ariel. I remember seeing plastic tubes and tubs of Eucerin all over the place when I briefly lived in America.
Eucerin is a dermatologist-recommended body moisturiser formulated with conditions like eczema, psoriasis and ichthyosis in mind, along with harsh climates (I remember the emptied shelves of pharmacies during New York’s coldest winter). Unlike Soleil de Blanc, Eucerin wasn’t formulated to take you to the Amalfi cost, nor does it have expensive ingredients. It’s formula includes petroleum, mineral oil, ceresin, lanolin and glycerin. It has a thick consistency and needs to be worked into the skin.
Eucerin is available in a few different formulations. Ariel reaches for the thickest consistency, Eucerin, Original Healing Cream ($29), when ramping up Kylie’s glow. Like other heavy-duty moisturisers like La Mer, Eucerin Original Healing Cream needs to be worked into the skin. “When you rub it into the skin, you have this crazy glow,” says Ariel.
While Eucerin isn’t available on Australian pharmacy shelves, it is available at iHerb.

The hype around this body butter is real. It’s a scent that kills drab winter vibes in seconds.
