It’s No Timothée Chalamet, but Kylie Jenner’s New Mascara Is Worth Talking About
Yes, Kylie Jenner’s dating life is all anyone can talk about right now, but can I make a case for a discussion on her brand-new Kylie Cosmetics Kylash Volume Mascara ($24)? My sensitive eyes can’t handle a lot of mascaras on the market, so I’m always on the hunt for new launches, and this product was better than I expected.
I’ve always enjoyed the brand’s formulas and products in the past, so I had high hopes from the start. After all, the beauty founder hasn’t let me down yet. After testing out the mascara on myself, I can honestly say it delivers on its promise of volume. Better yet, I didn’t experience any smudging or bleeding onto my lids, which – as someone with oily lids – is something I’ve struggled with in the past using other mascaras.
From the wand to the pigment, packaging, bristles, application, and lasting power, keep reading for my full experience with the new Kylie Cosmetics Kylash Volume Mascara. (Spoiler alert: it went pretty damn well.)
Kylie Cosmetics Kylash Volume Mascara Details
- The formula is vegan and cruelty-free.
- It contains grapeseed oil, pro-vitamin B5, and synthetic beeswax to hydrate lashes.
- The wand features a densely packed bristle brush to separate and lengthen.
- This product claims to be safe for sensitive skin around the eyes.
What I Like About Kylie Cosmetics’ Kylash Volume Mascara
Whenever a beauty product has beautiful packaging, I’m immediately intrigued, and that was the case with the Kylash Mascara. It comes in a millennial-pink hue with raised, embossed lettering that just screams chic. The bristle-brush wand is pretty typical for a volumizing mascara, and it felt lightweight in my hand and was very easy to use.
Upon application, I noticed the wand was easily able to separate each individual lash, and there was absolutely no clumping. I didn’t notice much additional length, but my lashes looked fuller thanks to the “extra black” hue and volume-building fibers.
As for longevity, the formula stayed in place, held a curl, and didn’t bleed on my lids throughout the entire day, which is the ultimate reason I am a big fan (and plan on making it my go-to for the foreseeable future).
How to Use Kylie Cosmetics’ Kylash Volume Mascara Product
If you have oily eyelids like me, this mascara is a great option – just make sure to set your lids with some translucent powder, and you’ll be all set. I also recommend using an eyelash curler before you use Kylash (or any mascara, for that matter). This product is focused more on volume, so doing that before will ensure your lashes are able to hold a curl for a longer period of time. After I used my curler, I applied three coats total and put a tiny amount on my bottom lash line, as well.
If you accidentally get mascara on your lids, allow it to dry down, then take a dry spoolie and gently swipe it off. By following this exact step, you won’t need to redo your eyeshadow.
What to Consider Before Trying Kylie Cosmetics’ Kylash Volume Mascara
At $24, this mascara is on the pricier side in comparison to drugstore mascaras that offer similar results. But if you’re willing to drop the cash and looking for a formula that won’t clump, flake, or smudge onto your lids, the Kylash Mascara is a great option. If you’re looking for length, this mascara doesn’t really deliver on it, but I still think it’s worth a try – it’s new and buzzy, and it delivers on its promise of voluminous lashes from root to tip.
