The Backstage Tour

Get the VIP treatment with the Sydney Opera House backstage tour. Following the footsteps of people like Oprah, Bob Dylan, and Lizzo, this tour will have you exploring areas that are usually closed off to the public. Kicking off at 6:45 am from Thursday – Monday, the early rise is worth it for those sunrise Sydney Harbour views. Meeting at the stage door, you’ll be taken through the inner workings of the House.

From everything to the mechanics that make performances run smoothly, to standing in one of the world’s most famous orchestra pits, this approx. two-hour tour will have you seeing the venue in a completely different light. And you’ll have breakfast in the green room — right where the stars eat.

Archie Rose Gin & Tour

For a limited time, you can spend Friday afternoons at the Sydney Opera House with a special tour of the building’s history, before topping it off with an experience to delight the senses.

After the tour, you’ll head to the Sydney Opera House’s newest restaurant, Midden. Here, you’ll experience a special tasting of Archie Rose Harvest gins. You’ll enjoy drink pairings with canapes, a cheese platter, and stunning Sydney Harbour views. Be quick, though, this tour is only running on Fridays between February 23 and March 22.

Badu Gili: Celestial

Of course, once the sun sets, there’s still plenty to marvel at. Step outside into the forecourt and gaze in awe as the ‘Badu Gili’ projection lights up the sails.

‘Badu Gili’ translates to ‘water light’ in the language of the traditional owners of Bennelong Point, the Gadigal people. This stunning six-minute projection will play multiple times a night throughout February and March. It celebrates the work of Meriam artist, Gail Mabo from Mer Island in the Torres Strait, and international First Nations artist Nikau Hindin, a Te Rarawa and Ngāpuhi woman from Aotearoa/New Zealand. The projections are accompanied by an immersive soundscape with music by Nigel Westlake, Te Kahureremoa Taumata (Ngāti Kahungunu, Ngāti Tūwharetoa), and Te Kuru o te Marama Dewes (Ngāti Porou, Ngāti Rangitihi).
