Netflix is home to so many kids’ shows and movies that it can be hard for parents to help their little ones figure out what to watch (just as hard is it is for us to figure it out for ourselves!). The streamer wants to lend parents a hand to make program selection easier and more tailored to their kids’ interests, whether they’re obsessed with CoComelon or more excited about the movies Netflix rolls out each month.
On July 14, Netflix shared that it’s adding two new kid-friendly features to its service: “bi-weekly kids recap emails to give parents a better understanding of their child’s preferences” and a “Kids Top 10” row on kids’ homepages.

In the biweekly recap emails, parents will see rundowns of the shows and movies their kids have most recently watched on their profiles and get content recommendations tailored specifically to them. The email will also break down the themes and topics kids enjoy based on their viewing history (i.e. adventure or science) and offer more suggestions for related content. For some offscreen fun, the recaps will include printables like coloring pages and activities inspired by your kids’ favorite characters.
The Kids Top 10 section will function just like the original Top 10 row that shows the most popular content in your country at any given time, but it’ll be on your child’s homepage and filled with kid-friendly shows, movies, and specials. Netflix hopes this feature will help kids and parents to decide what to watch, especially as a family.
These new features are already available – the Kids Top 10 section is now on your child’s profile and the biweekly emails will be automatically sent out to those with at least one kids’ profile on their account (however, you can unsubscribe from these emails at any time). See what they both look like ahead.
