It started with free coffee through the McCafé It Forward initiative, then free Thank You Meals for first responders and healthcare workers, and most recently Free Fry Fridays until June 2021. Lately, McDonald’s has been in the spirit of giving, and it doesn’t look like it’s planning to stop anytime soon. The fast-food chain has made sure that Christmas came early this year, too, because from now until Christmas Eve at participating locations, it’ll be giving away free meals to all of its customers. The best part is, every item on the freebie menu is Christmas-movie-themed, and anyone can order from it, just as long as they’ve downloaded the McDonald’s mobile app.
How Does It Work?
Every day starting on Dec. 14 with The Griswolds Double Cheeseburger, a new Christmas menu item will be made available on the McDonald’s app. To redeem, simply open the app, scroll to the Deals section on the homepage, select the daily Christmas freebie, then tap Add to Mobile Order – it’s that easy. The Christmas menu is exclusive to the app, so make sure you place your mobile order before heading to your local McDonald’s.
What’s on the Menu?
Each item on the menu is inspired by a Christmas classic, so whether your favorite Christmas movie is Die Hard or Frosty the Snowman, McDonald’s has just the treat to put you in the holiday spirit.
The Griswolds Double Cheeseburger (Dec. 14)
The Abominable Snow Monster Big Mac (Dec. 15)
The Grinch Egg McMuffin (Dec. 16)
The John McClane McDouble (Dec. 17)
The Rudolph World Famous Fries (Dec. 18)
The Gizmo Chicken McNuggets (Dec. 19)
The Buddy the Elf Hotcakes (Dec. 20)
The Scrooge Hot or Iced Coffee (Dec. 21)
The Frosty the Snowman McFlurry (Dec. 22)
The Frank Constanza and the Rest of Us Bakery Treat (Dec. 23)
The Santa Clause Chocolate Chip Cookies (Dec. 24)
What’s the Catch?
Since these Christmas freebies must be redeemed through the app, technically there is a minimum purchase order of $1. However, on Christmas Eve, the last day of the promotion, the dollar minimum will be waived entirely. Still sounds too good to be true? According to the official statement released by McDonald’s, “After a year like 2020, we could all use some extra cheer this season.” So enjoy your holiday treats on the house, and just try to “McCafé It Forward,” McDonald’s says.
