Seven to Shop: Including a Striped Shirt With Endless Outfit Possibilities

Visiting South Korea at the start of March reminded me how mild Sydney winters are. While Korea’s start of spring saw me wearing four layers up top and having to buy a hat to keep warm, Sydney’s winters can often see you getting away with just wearing a jumper.
While I enjoyed bundling up to brace the cold for the week I was in Korea, I felt grateful I didn’t live full-time in that climate — and that I got to return to the last dregs of Sydney’s summer.
Ahead, I’m sharing six items I wore, again and again, this past summer and will no doubt continue to wear into spring — plus one winter piece I’m glad I brought to Seoul. From a striped shirt that I’ve already worn three ways — on its own, under a vest and unbuttoned over a lace cami – to an anklet that gives any outfit flair, these are the pieces I love this month and recommend you consider adding to your wardrobe too.
Monte Terry Slippers, $95
Terry material clothes and accessories were everything this past summer, and I think that’ll continue into this year. I got these in bright green, so they’d add a pop of colour to a neutral outfit. I wear them to hotel pools or the beach. They’re not meant for walking long distances, with barely any grip on the bottom, so I don’t wear them for full-on outings.
Best Jumpers Ben Shirt Striped, on sale $182 (from $260)
An oversized button-down shirt can give you so many outfit combinations. You can wear it under a vest, on its own or unbuttoned over a cami or, for a pool look, a bikini. This shirt is made with cotton poplin, which gives it a crisp feel. Its drop shoulder makes for a more relaxed fit.
Lack of Colors Holiday Bucket Canvas, $99
With the risk of skin cancer real in Australia, I’ve been increasingly aware of how much time I spend outdoors. When I am outside for a prolonged period, I now try to always wear a hat, like this bucket hat. The brim is malleable so I can half-fold its front for a cute look. I leave the neck tie open for a wilderness ranger aesthetic.
Francesca Peggy Pearl Anklet, $79
Since I put this anklet a month and a half ago, I haven’t taken it off. It’s made with freshwater rice pearls, which lend a coastal touch to any outfit. I also like the fact it was handmade in Tasmania — it makes the piece feel even more special.
Same The Grace Tank One Piece, $590
I hadn’t heard of this LA-based brand until I went to a showing for it. Some of its swimsuits are bling-y with metallic fabrics and chain detailing, while others are more classic and feminine with rose puffs. I’ve been wearing this one-piece to the pool and beach but I could also wear it to lunch with linen pants or shorts. It’s on the pricier end, but I don’t see it going out of style.
Uniqlo: C Trench Coat, $199.90
Yes, I still have a few more weeks of sunshine to squeeze out of Sydney, but I can’t help but wish for it to be cold enough to wear this trench. I wore it several times in Seoul earlier this month and thought it made every outfit I wore underneath look polished. I wore it buttoned up with the belt done and also unbuttoned with my outfit underneath peeking through.
Faithfull The Brand Alejandreas Handmade Crochet, $229
This vest is pricey, but quality knit and crochet always is. I wore this often this summer, pairing it with loose-fitting trousers. The crochet material makes it feel beachy, but the black adds sophistication.
