On March 12, it was announced that Disneyland, Disney World, and other adventure parks will temporarily close their doors due to the coronavirus spread in the United States. As many travel plans were forced to be put on pause, and hotels offered guests time to change or cancel their visits, Disney still had to reckon with the large amount of food the parks produce, and it’s committed to not letting it go to waste.
Just one day after the closure announcement, Disneyland Resort announced it will be donating the excess food from Disneyland park and Disney California Adventure Park to the Second Harvest Food Bank of Orange County. “While closely following food safety guidelines, excess inventory of dairy, fruit, vegetables, packaged goods and banquet meals is being donated to Second Harvest Food Bank, whose mission is to end hunger in Orange County,” the press release stated. Walt Disney World Resort will also donate all excess food to its local Second Harvest Food Bank.

Disney has worked with the organization in the past, and together, they’ll ensure that food does not go to waste.
