In our chat with Matt Cox, the creative director of Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands, we were promised four post-launch content drops — but we didn’t expect the first one to come out so soon. The Coiled Captors DLC is releasing on April 22, less than a month after the game launched and landed a spot on our list of the best games of 2022 (so far).
What Is Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands Coiled Captors DLC?
Coiled Captors adds a new dungeon set deep within an icy mountain. At the dungeon’s centre lies Chums, an Old God trapped in the body of a seawarg (a new Borderlands enemy added in Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands that’s basically a shark on four legs like a vicious but cute sea dog). To free Chums and claim your reward, you’ll wade through wintery wastelands, arid ruins and flooding caverns full of enemies like the Coiled, serpentine witches who use dark magic to bring about the return of their ancient, slumbering masters.
What’s most exciting about the Coiled Captors DLC is that you can replay the dungeon for increasingly rare loot. Each time you defeat Chums, you’ll earn Lost Souls, which you can use to spin a Wheel of Fate. The wheel rewards you with Legendary weapons, cosmetics, gear and other items that will come in handy as you play through Tina’s chaotic Bunkers and Badasses campaign. Chums will also level up each week, learning new attacks and abilities to keep your runs feeling fresh.
How to Start the Coiled Captors DLC
Coiled Captors begins in Dreamveil Overlook, just outside Brighthoof in the Overworld. Speak to the fortune teller Vesper to begin the quest.
You can start the Coiled Captors DLC at any point in the main game, assuming you’ve gotten far enough through the beginning of the story to move freely through the Overworld. The enemies scale to your character’s level so you’ll always have a worthy challenge, too.
If you bought the season pass or the Chaotic Great Edition of the game, the Coiled Captors DLC will automatically be added to your game on April 22. For everyone else, it’s available to buy separately or in the season pass.
