To celebrate 22 years of The Sims, EA has made The Sims 4 free to play for a limited time. There’s also a huge sale running on the DLC packs and the base game, so even if you miss out on playing it for free, you can still pick it up for just $6.
Here are the details: The Sims 4 is free to play on Origin until 4:30 am on Tuesday, February 8. All you need to play for free is a laptop or PC with Origin installed. You’ll also need an Origin account, which you can create for free here. You can then download The Sims 4 and play it for a reasonable amount of time — like all night long.
The fun isn’t over when the free trial ends, though. The sale runs until February 12, which includes The Sims 4 for 88 percent off. That comes out to $6.24 — a bargain for a game that normally costs $49.99. The Sims 4 Digital Deluxe Edition is also on sale at just $7.49 and includes the Up All Night, Life of the Party and Awesome Animal Hats digital content.
And if you want to add more fun to your game, you’re in luck because most of the expansion packs, game packs and stuff packs are also on sale. Some of the best expansion packs are half price, like Cats & Dogs, Seasons and Discover University. The Star Wars: Journey to Batuu game pack has been cut to $20.96 and the Paranormal stuff pack is a steal at $10.46. The Sims 4 DLC is a great way to expand your character’s world with new locations, jobs and gameplay.
Mods are another great way to enhance your game, and we’ve rounded up some of the best Sims 4 mods here. These mods let you give your Sim a Myers-Briggs personality type, have realistic relationships, plan a wedding, and can even give you more inclusive skin tones to work with in Create A Sim.
The sale is also running on Steam with the same huge discounts, but you’ll still need an Origin account even if you buy it here.
