With the intricate way Marvel connects its movies and shows, it’s not a big leap to assume Marvel’s Spider-Man, the PlayStation exclusive game, would also be connected to the Tom Holland Spider-Man movies. And while the game isn’t explicitly connected to the MCU, there are still a few crossovers between them.
Ahead of the release of Spider-Man: No Way Home, we’re taking a look at how the movie and the game have influenced each other. There are a few things that fans of the game will notice in the new movie, as well as ways for MCU fans to play as their favourite version of Tom Holland in the game. Here are all the ways the Spider-Man game is connected to Spider-Man: No Way Home.
Spider-Man Suits
Spider-Man: No Way Home is introducing two new looks for Spidey: the Integrated Suit and the Black and Gold Suit. The Integrated Suit is a culmination of Tom Holland’s looks from his solo films and MCU appearances, combining the red and black aesthetic of the Upgraded Suit with the gold plating and retractable spider-legs of the Iron Spider Suit. The Black and Gold Suit, meanwhile, is a new style that includes what looks like wiring and magic runes like Doctor Strange uses.
Both suits came to the remastered version of Marvel’s Spider-Man, letting fans swing through the city and take out iconic villains like Electro, Kingpin and Vulture as their favourite Tom Holland look.
Spider-Man Moves
In an interview with Extraordinerd, Tom Holland said he “absolutely loved” the game and revealed that he recreates a move from the game in Spider-Man: No Way Home.
“I think the game is amazing. I think it’s so fun, the swinging around the city is so well done … There’s actually one move that Spider-Man does in the game that we took and he does in the film, and it’s really cool.”
Holland didn’t reveal which move they borrowed in the movie, but eagle-eyed players might spot something familiar when the movie releases in cinemas on December 16.
