After famously asking “What’s Fortnite” [sic] on Twitter, all signs point to Lady Gaga doing a virtual concert in the game.
Well-known Fortnite creator and leaker @FNLeaksAndInfo discovered that the Jug Band emote, which will be added in the upcoming update, plays part of Gaga’s “Poker Face” when four players are involved.
Even more convincing is the fact that the promo image for Rainbow Royale, an in-game event celebrating Fortnite‘s LGBTQIA+ community, mirrors Gaga’s “Bad Romance” music video.
Coupled with the fact that Lady Gaga is currently one of the artists playing on in-game radios during Rainbow Royale and that data miners recently found a new concert stage in the game files, these discoveries are doing a pretty good job at convincing us that a Gaga concert is on the way.
If you were around for the Ariana Grande Fortnite concert, you’d remember how much of a spectacle the Epic Games team can put on, and we’d expect nothing less for Lady Gaga.
Nothing’s been confirmed yet, though, and other artists added for Rainbow Royale include Janelle Monáe, Lil Nas X, King Princess and Kim Petras — the concert stage assets could be meant for one of them, or maybe they’re just placeholders for a future concert. Still, enough signs point to a Lady Gaga Fortnite concert to get fans excited.
Rainbow Royale is live now and runs until September 16. You can unlock free emotes, sprays, loading screens and more just by playing, and the free items from last year’s event have returned to the Item Shop. The new Dreamer skin has also been added with the event, and there’s a chance to unlock it for free during the Dreamer Cup on September 6. A Lady Gaga Fortnite concert would surely also bring Gaga skins, too. Something to look forward to!
