You’ve been patient, you’ve followed the rules, you’ve got your vaccination and now, a little bit of normalcy has returned. After 106 long days of closure, Fitness First Australia has reopened 40 of its clubs across New South Wales as of today, October 11. Is that good news or what?!
For those eager to return to face-to-face exercise classes and sweat seshs in the gym, now is your time to shine. The doors have reopened on Fitness First clubs across NSW North, West, South, East and the Sydney CBD, which means you’ll be able to join one of the 1850 group fitness classes on offer throughout opening week.
“Gyms are back! We’ve been getting by with home workouts, but there’s nothing quite like the real thing,” said Fitness First General Manager Club Operations David Aitchison. “It’s been hard on everyone and we are beyond excited to get NSW energised again for all that lies ahead — there’s never been a better time to put yourself first and become stronger for those around you.”
To make this transition back into the gym environment even easier, Fitness First is now offering month-to-month flexible memberships as well as an industry-first 30-day free trial. This offers greater flexibility and accessibility so you can continue on your fitness journey how and when you want.
To ensure that your return is smooth, consider uploading your COVID-19 Digital Certificate to the Fitness First member portal beforehand, or you can present it to the reception team to verify in person. For those wanting to visit the gym outside of staffed hours, you’ll have to make sure to upload your certificate before heading in for your session.
Fitness First is prioritising your safety and will have professional cleaners and staff on the gym floor to thoroughly clean equipment and no equipment will be shared unless disinfected between uses. All of the staff at Fitness First have also undertaken the Australian Government’s training module on COVID-19 and all staff and personal trainers working in clubs are vaccinated against COVID-19, so you’re in safe hands.
You might notice on your return to Fitness First that some of the equipment has been repositioned and this is to ensure social distancing measures are met. As for exercise classes, these will be capped at 20 people and a token system is in place to manage capacity. Face masks must be worn during class and additional time has been allotted between classes for cleaning and sanitisation.
To keep your hands clean and sanitised, hygiene stations will be placed near high-touch areas and don’t forget to bring your debit or credit card as reception will be doing cash-free purchases. Fitness First has made a huge effort to make you feel happy and safe during your gym sessions after a long time working out at home.
