The V-Waist Jean Is the Genius Spring Denim Trend For an Hourglass Figure
Y2K fashion has officially made a comeback, with some essential pieces getting a much-needed redesign for 2022. If you love early 2000s style but don’t fancy squeezing into a pair of low-rise jeans, then V-waist jeans are your new wardrobe companion. Also called V-front jeans, the spring/summer 2022 denim trend combines the comfort of a sculpting, high-waist jean, with the edge of a low-rise.
The high-waist, V-front jean notably appeared as an avant-garde design on Y/Project’s autumn 2020 catwalk. Afterwards, Google searches for wearable V-waist jeans hit a peak in summer 2021 (maybe because of the popularity of Agolde’s Criss Cross jeans), but there still weren’t many options available to shop online. Now, the V-waist jean is set to become the best new denim trend for spring/summer 2022. Thanks to London-based stylist Collene Weekes who shared a photo of herself on Instagram, wearing Weekday’s ultra-flattering twin jeans – V-waist jeans are at the top of our spring wishlist. We love how well they fit various different body types and create the illusion of an instant hourglass figure with a single wardrobe item.
“V-shaped waistline, which genius came up with this concept then?,” Weekes asked on Instagram, and we have to agree. In addition to Weekday, high street brands like Abercrombie & Fitch are creating buttery soft V-shaped styles in a range of washes – from vintage, light-wash blues to deep indigo, and black. If you fancy investing in a high-end jean, then check out Citizens of Humanity’s Elle jeans or one of the illusive Revive jeans by The Ragged Priest. To take it even further, try the offerings from I.Am.Gia and Miaou to complete the look.
