If you want to know the backstory behind some of Selena Gomez’s most iconic looks, all you have to do is ask – seriously. Kate Young, who has been working with Selena since 2015, when they constructed outfits for her Revival tour, is sharing some of her fondest memories with fans on Instagram. Kate started with Selena’s little leather Coach dress, which she wore for the American Music Awards in 2017, explaining there was no need for a gown for this specific event but a desire for leather, since Stuart Vevers is known for creating some of the best leather outerwear in the industry. Kate was inspired by Frantic, Roman Polanski’s 1988 film, and it shows! If you scroll through the ‘gram Kate posted, you’ll see how the whole look came to life, including those diamond drop hoop earrings, taking direct influence from the movie’s wardrobe.
After Kate told the story of this first outfit, she invited followers to write in with more requests: “If you want to know the backstory on other looks comment below and I’ll do more posts,” she wrote. Merely an hour later, Kate responded to Selenators, giving them more of what they came for. Kate elaborated on both Selena’s crystal-embellished 2015 AMAs performance look and her 2015 AMAs red carpet Givenchy dress – you know, the one with the back dipped down low? While we have yet to see if Kate will reveal more exciting details, scroll through to read her full captions for the first three posts. We love that Kate is acknowledging that we all have room for a little nostalgia right now in our lives, and Selena is obviously one of our favorite subjects.
