Jenna Ortega is fully leaning into her role as Wednesday Addams with every fiber of her fall wardrobe. On Nov. 16, Ortega walked the black carpet in a black lace wedding dress with a thigh-high slit from Versace’s spring 2023 collection at Netflix’s “Wednesday” premiere in Los Angeles. Her stylist, Enrique Melendez, completed the stylishly sinister ensemble with Delfina Delettrez jewelry and black pointed-toe pumps with strappy ankle detailing.
Feeding off of her character’s iconic infatuation with all things macabre, Ortega kept her face somber behind the sheer fabric of her black veil, which featured spidery lace trim and a silver tiara. The romantic gown was held up by black straps that plunged into the lace-trimmed bustier as she floated like a ghost bride past the wrought-iron fence and decaying foliage in the background.
Just below a bat-like keyhole cutout, the intentionally creased dress split into deep waist cutouts that came to a point on either side of her hips. The cutouts were layered over with floral lace in black, which appeared again along the lining of dress’s thigh-high slit. The entire look culminated in a miniature train that channeled Morticia Addams and the Corpse Bride in the best way possible.
Ortega wasn’t the only member of the Addams family who understood the assignment on Wednesday. Christina Ricci joined Ortega at the premiere while wearing a sheer black dress with a tiered skirt and a shimmering spiderweb design from Rodarte’s fall 2020 collection. With two generations of the Addams family frequenting the black carpet, fans should keep their eyes peeled for more delightfully dark outfits.
