At the 15th anniversary of the Essence Black Women in Hollywood Awards, celebrities brought out all the spring colour trends, creating a vibrant spectacle on the red carpet. First, Serena Willams stunned in a hot-pink body-con minidress from her eponymous brand, featuring an asymmetrical silhouette and a chest cutout. The tennis star opted for clear strappy sandals, an emerald ring, a stack of golden bracelets, and two pendant earrings as accessories. Her blonde hair was parted on one side, reaching down to her collarbone to show off the flattering top and fitted bodice.
Williams joined stars like Storm Reid, who also embraced the cutout trend for the occasion. She wore a soft-yellow off-shoulder gown with feather-trimmed sleeves and a midriff cutout. Placing the focus firmly on her Sally LaPointe gown, Reid styled her braids into a high bun, revealing minimal gold hoop earrings. On the “Euphoria” star’s feet, white slingback pumps were visible, contrasting nicely with the pastel shade of her dress.
Other well-dressed celebrities in attendance included Karrueche Tran, who paired a Balmain spring 2020 black-and-white striped minidress with white pumps; “Insecure” actor Natasha Rothwell, who wore a sweeping blue landscape maxi gown; and “Little” star Marsai Martin, who matched a pink sequin midi with pointy barely-there heels.
The luncheon, which took place at the Beverly Wilshire, celebrates the strides Black women have made in film and TV. It drew a notable crowd and a colourful display of red carpet style. Check out the best-dressed stars – many of whom were honoured at the ceremony – and bask in the glamour of it all.
