Some trends come and go, while others stand the test of time, and celebrities in latex fashion is firmly in the latter category. The risqué trend offers a high-shine, super-sleek look that celebrities return to time and time again. Recently, we’ve seen AJ Odudu rock a bespoke luxury latex catsuit at the premiere of “Big Brother” and Nicola Coughlan wow in a custom-made Christopher Kane dress earlier this year. And who can forget Sam Smith winning the 2023 Brits red carpet in that inflatable suit?

While latex has been a feature in high-fashion campaigns and worn among the A-list for years, it also has connotations with fetishism. Therefore, celebrities in latex combine both style and sex appeal when repping the trend. Latex is also a more sustainable option than its sister fabric, PVC. Made from the sap of trees, the natural rubber material makes it a more environmentally-friendly alternative to the plastic aesthetic.

The Brits red carpet is often an eclectic affair, but the 2023 awards show on 11 February was hands-down won by Sam Smith. The “Unholy” singer commanded attention in a a structured latex jumpsuit by the designer, Harri, that seemed to inflate at the shoulders and thighs. They added platform boots to finish the quirky look.

Nicole Coughlan in Latex

To pick up the best newcomer award at the Newport Beach Film Festival on 16 February, Coughlan stunned in a bespoke Christopher Kane dress. The black patent design was made with a flattering fit-and-flare shape with white tulle shoulder detail. With platform Jimmy Choo heels, the look was dubbed a “latex masterpiece” by the “Bridgeton” star.

Ora is not a celebrity to do things by halves, and she didn’t disappoint back on 28 January when she performed at Heaven nightclub in London. A long-time fan of the naked dress, she wore a translucent pink latex number from Avellano’s spring/summer 2023 collection. Underneath the latex look was a nude thong and star nipple pasties.

Fox is known for her outlandish fashion so it comes as no surprise that she loves latex. The actor was spotted in the high-shine fabric on 6 September when she was spotted filming a Victoria’s Secret photoshoot. Her bralet and low-slung trousers with platform boots were styles with angel wings. Naturally.

Former footballer-turned-pundit Scott rocked a red latex dress to co-host Soccer Aid for Unicef on 11 June. She wore the Saint Laurent racerback look with Sergio Rossi black heels, and ensured all eyes were on her amongst the football kits.

The Kardashian sister is not shy when it comes to latex fashion and has been seen in the tight look many times. One of our favourites has to be the strapless maxi dress she wore to the Tom Ford show at New York Fashion Week in 2017. Classic, sexy, yet modern, her outfit ensured she was front row royalty.
