Former Met Gala host Billie Eilish was in attendance at the 2023 Met Gala, honoring the late Karl Lagerfeld on Monday, May 1, in New York City. For the Costume Institute exhibition opening, Eilish wore a black sheer lace gown with embellished gloves and platform sandals to match. She adorned her hair with 2000s-era clips covered in black gemstones and a wrapped ponytail.
A huge fan of the ’90s-era logo-mania look, Eilish wore a Chanel suit to the 2020 Oscars, made of white tweed and covered in the brand’s iconic double Cs. So while she never attended a Lagerfeld-designed runway collection showing, she has certainly lent her support to the brands he designed for over the years.
Styled for red carpet events regularly by Samantha Burkhart, Eilish has been going for a slightly softer look as of late, wearing white pearl-embellished tights and a floral dress at Easter and opting for a boudoir-inspired look back in January, wearing a slip dress and visible bra while posing on Instagram.
Back in 2021, when Eilish was cochair of the Met Gala, she wore a fairy-tale princess gown from Oscar de la Renta that, at the time, was a large diversion from her everyday style. Though it wasn’t apparent two years ago, it was actually a harbinger of what was to come, as her style has softened ever since.
Ahead, check out every detail of Eilish’s 2023 Met Gala look.
