Nick Cannon has shared the devastating news that his youngest child, Zen, has passed away at the age of five months old.
The Masked Singer host revealed the news to the audience in attendance at a taping of his talk show, explaining, “Over the weekend I lost my youngest son to a condition called hydrocephalus that was pretty much a malignant, invasive midline brain tumour, brain cancer.”
Zen was Cannon’s 7th child and his only offspring with model Alyssa Scott. He has six other children from other relationships, including 10-year-old twins Moroccan and Monroe with singer Mariah Carey. The twins were born on April 30, 2011.
His two middle children, Golden “Sagon”, 4, and Powerful Queen, 1, are from his relationship with Brittany Bell.
He also has twin sons, Zion Mixolydian and Zillion Heir Cannon, with DJ Abby De La Rosa. The boys were born on June 14, 2021.
Born on June 23, 2021, Zen was just nine days younger than his twin half-brothers.
Cannon previously told Entertainment Tonight how he had learned of Zen’s condition, saying, “I always noticed he had a cough and so I wanted to check it out. He had this interesting breathing and by the time he was 2 months, I noticed he had this nice-sized head too — a Cannon head.
“We didn’t think anything of it, but I wanted to take him to the doctor for his sinus and breathing. We thought it would be routine.”
Cannon has said that he will be taking some tiff off of work to grieve the loss of his youngest child.
