Kishwar, Pete and Justin Are About to Battle it Out in the MasterChef Australia 2021 Finale

MasterChef Australia finale 2021

We have been on quite the ride with the contestants of MasterChef Australia 2021 and we will definitely be sad to bid them farewell after tonight’s ultimate challenge.

After weeks and weeks of watching the beloved cooking show, we’ve come to know and love each aspiring chef and gotten to know all about their lives outside of the competition. Not only that, but it has been a joy to watch them form such tight friendships (we can’t get enough of the bromance between Pete and Justin) in what has been a refreshing change from other reality shows where everyone is at each other’s throats.

After weeks of eliminations, the final three contestants are Kishwar, Pete and Justin, who are all so different as cooks that it really is impossible to predict who might win.

This year, the final challenge has been done differently, taking place over two nights and consisting of three nail-biting challenges for which the finalists are scored by the judges. The cook with the most points at the end of the second night will be declared the winner — and $250,000 will be theirs.

In the first round, celebrity guest chefs such as Martin Benn, Josh Niland and Kirsten Tibballs revealed ingredients that the three finalists needed to make something spectacular with, and all three of them delivered.

At the end of the first round, Kishwar scored 21 out of 30, Justin scored 21 out of 30 and Pete scored 28 out of 30.

For the second round, the finalist’s families were invited into the MasterChef kitchen (yes, we cried) and were asked to pick out golden balls for their loved ones — one which contained an ingredient and one which contained a curveball.

At the end of the second round, Kishwar scored a perfect 30 points for her peasant curry, while Justin racked up an amazing 29 points. Unfortunately, Pete did not cook his quail properly, resulting in him receiving  25 out of 30. However, seeing as his cumulative total is 53 points, he remains in the lead, by a hair.

In the final challenge, legendary chef Peter Gilmore of Sydney’s Quay Restaurant will task Pete, Kishwar and Justin with recreating not one, but two, of his intricate dishes. Given that this is the man who brought us the infamous snow egg dessert, it’s safe to say that the final showdown will be incredibly difficult and utterly mesmerising to watch.

We cannot wait.

The MasterChef Australia grand finale airs tonight (July 13) on Network 10 and 10 Play.
